5 Tips for LinkedIn for Personal Use

1. Have an updated headshot

A professional headshot for your LinkedIn profile photo is a must. Having a professional LinkedIn photo makes your profile 14x more likely to be viewed! A professional photographer would be best; however, if you have a friend or family member take it, just remember to use a plain background and wear professional attire.

2. Keep your profile up-to-date

Make sure your profile is completely up-to-date and filled out. Even making a few additions like listing your skills will help boost your presence. LinkedIn users who list their skills get 13x more views.

3. Ask and give recommendations

Having recommendations on your LinkedIn profile will help increase your personal brand presence. Don’t forget to give recommendations! Those appear on your profile as well. Giving honest and thorough recommendations will look great to other connections.

4.Manage your personal brand

LinkedIn helps users create a solid personal brand. You never know who will look at your LinkedIn page. Share valuable updates with your followers. It can be tips, questions, or relevant articles. Writing and posting an article on LinkedIn will help you become an expert in your field and grow your audience.

5. Engage with other users

Grow your connections and audience! Like, comment, and share on others posts and articles on LinkedIn. You can spend as little or as much time as you want to engage. We recommend setting aside just 10-15 minutes a week for LinkedIn engagement. Maybe on a Monday afternoon, you spend a few minutes reading articles on LinkedIn and commenting. By doing this, you’re more likely to grow your connections and build relationships.

LinkedIn is a powerful networking tool, but you need to put in a little time to see results.

4 Tips for LinkedIn Business Use

1. Have high-resolution logo as the profile photo & a high-resolution cover photo

Does your company or business have a high-resolution logo as its LinkedIn profile image? From a branding and public relations standpoint, it’s critical you make sure to upload a logo as the profile image. This will help users easily recognize your brand. Make sure the logo is the profile image for your other social profiles for a seamless experience.

2. Post updates

Post frequent updates to your company LinkedIn Page. Again, you can spend as little or as much time as you want posting updates. Even posting a tip or article once a week can make a huge difference in finding new followers and engaging with existing followers. We recommend posting at least three times a week!

3. Sponsored updates

Are you familiar with boosting a post on Facebook? LinkedIn Sponsored Updates are the exact same thing. If you have an important update, job posting, or event, try Sponsoring that update to reach new followers. Sponsored Updates has sophisticated targeting abilities. You can target location, company, job title, or groups.

4. Post a job

Looking to hire? Try posting a job to LinkedIn. Simply go to “post a job” under the Jobs section of your company page. As you start typing information about the job posting like title, skills, etc., LinkedIn will offer suggestions based on millions of job postings to help yours get found in search and be matched with users who fit what you’re looking for.

Follow these tips for personal and business and watch your LinkedIn pages grow. LinkedIn will help you increase your followers, improve your credibility, and generate leads!
